Sringara is a rasa that is used in dance, but the love this kural talks about isn't passion, but compassion. While Neerindri amayaadhu in Amritavarshini was the easiest to set to tune as the kural and raga fit instantly, he reveals Anbilaar ellaam thamakkuriyar was difficult. He also took feedback from his team on which one sounded best. So, it was a creative process that involved trial and error.” There were times when he had to come up with ten tunes and choose the one that felt most satisfying, he adds. And even though it is a couplet with seven words, the words aren’t split equally in all of them. Every kural has a different metre and thalam. But I did not want to make it look like I had somehow shoehorned a kural into a raga. For a kural that talks about the importance of rain and water, I chose Amritavarshini, which is supposed to bring rain when sung. For example, for Selvaththul selvam sevichelvam, which talks about how listening is the biggest of all the wealth, I have gone with the raga Karnaranjani, which means pleasing to the ears in Sanskrit. Explaining how he set the couplets to music, he says, “For every kural, I thought about what the most apt raga would be and set it to tune. Based on the feedback, we will take it further,” he says. “The idea is to do this as a pilot project for 15 days, by posting a kural every alternate day, starting December 16, and culminate on Thiruvalluvar Day - January 15, 2022.
